MARCH: Master

LEADERSHIP ACADEMY: MASTER
Do whatever is listed in each of the following 4 sections.

#1 FOCUS: Integrity in Society/Government
Read or watch the movie of one of the following: “Pride and Prejudice” (the A&E/BBC version) and “Lord of the Flies” (I know of no decent movie version of this…please consult with your parents before reading this one.)
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________

#2 Leadership Skills: FALLACIES
Review the fallacies and look for at least 5 examples of fallacies in the books you read. (Hint: the opening sentence of “Pride and Prejudice” is one!  Just four more to go!)  Identify why it is a fallacy!

#3 CIVILITY IN 60 SECONDS OR LESS
Pick a civility topic from "Choosing Civility" that would have helped in either book and come prepared to teach us about it in some way in 60 seconds or less (please call Sister Biesinger if you have any questions about this one!) Have fun, be creative, and don't be afraid to bring treats, especially chocolate ones :).

#4 Leadership Skills: WHATEVER HAPPENED TO JUSTICE?

KNOW: Do all of these

·         Read Chapters 21-23 of Whatever Happened to Justice.

UNDERSTAND- Choose one or more of the following to take your knowledge to understanding:
·         Learn more about the Nuremberg trials.  Share what you learn in class.
·         Refer to page 118 (Innocent or Guilty) in WHTJ.  If you were on the jury, what would you have decided based upon your own sense of right and wrong?  Based on the laws of the day? Based on Higher Law?--Keep in mind the two fundamental laws.  Write down what you would have decided and share in class.
·         Read the constitution.  Do you believe the Constitution protects common law?  Write your thoughts and share in class.
·         Have you ever experienced or observed a situation in which the majority seemed to get out of control?  How did your friends react?  How did you act?  Did you believe the "mob" was acting in a positive and controlled way?  Do a graphic summary or write a story about your experience and share in class.

INTELLIGENCE - Do the following in class  to create intelligence
·         Participate in a debate in class about the items on page 118.  Show integrity to what you feel is right and wrong!
·         Participate in a class discussion about the two books you read and the topics of mob rule and integirty
